When i woke this morning, I hadn’t expected that i would be doing some flying. Days that are this full of surprise are magical. Through my home window in West London, i could see the sun beaming through the high clouds. With my morning coffee , I called Cranfield having checked the TAFS and METARS on the web to book G-ECGC.

BBC News 24: Rotary International 103rd Birthday

BBC Radio: Asian Network the big debate

I was recently interviewed by BBC Asian Network Radio station. I have been asked to return on March 6th to take part in a debate show. As part of the debate,  pilot training for people with disabilities will be discussed. Kula Shaker - Access all areas

Turko Files Fans Support Disabled Surfer

We recently interviewed Martin Lloyd, of Anglo American Aviation San Diego. This is a local news piece which features him. A person with disabilities who is a surfer had his board stolen. Martin and friends stepped in to get him a new one and to celebrate that the Sky’s the limit!

Martin Lloyd - JAA Chief Flying Instructor - Head of Disabled Flight Training, Anglo American Training, USA

May 2007 was when I first contacted Martin in San Diego. I was looking for a flight training facility that could offer a commercial service for pilots with a disability. The reply I received was “I think that our School is just what you are looking for” - Indeed they were and I was 1 plane ticket away from going to San Diego. Other opportunities opened up for me and I trained for my pilots licence in the UK. I found Martin to be incredibly helpful and we kept in touch. Read the rest of this entry »

United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its Optional Protocol was adopted on 13 December 2006 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and was opened for signature on 30 March 2007. There were 82 signatories to the Convention, 44 signatories to the Optional Protocol, and 1 ratification of the Convention.
