Under Heathrow control zone : flying from White Waltham
28/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
Early this morning it was looking like a fine spring day was going to be had…however by the time i check the weather online i was not sure if i would get to fly from a new airfield - White Waltham. This airfield is one of the oldest in the UK and i have met many pilots who trained here. I had arranged to meet Bruno who is one of West London Aero Club’s instructors. We met last year at Cranfield and become good friends. White Waltham is just on the edge of the London Control zone. Read the rest of this entry »

26/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
Here is very small poor quality version of the taster DVD which is being used for potential broadcasters. It is a cut and past from Days 4 & 5 of last Nov immunization campaign that i took part in. This taster is to introduce me and give an impression of the scale of the problem in India for complete polio eradication. Working with an award winning documentary maker Read the rest of this entry »

26/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
It has been more then 28 days since i flew Terry’s PA28. The Cessna 172 is still in the maintenance hanger awaiting some parts. Thus, i had to have a check ride with Terry to make sure that my flying skills are up to scratch - I was given the all clear. Read the rest of this entry »

26/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
A few weeks ago I attended the House of Lords with my friend Raj. We met Rosa Branson a iconic British painter who makes works for good causes. She created a painting called Service above Self for Rotary International. The Thematic work, depicts the many facets of Rotary’s humanitarian service, including, the global campaign to eradicate polio, health, hunger and water issues. Read the rest of this entry »

Youth Speaks - The Final 27 April 2008
24/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
Cherie Booth & Gautam Lewis has said “Yes” to an invitation to be a Judge in the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition taking place at The City of London School for Boys on Sunday 27th April 2008. In assessing the presentations, attention will be paid to the following:All team members: Effective use of voice, easy manner, natural gestures and whether the personality of the individual comes over to the audience. Humour, in the right context, will be appreciated. Notes can be used, but they should not be too obvious; simply reading written content will be penalised. Audio-visual aids are NOT permitted. JFK runway closed for good cause
24/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
For more then 30 years, the Rotary Club of JFK International Airport, New York, USA has taken over a major runway to raise thousands of dollars through a 5k race.
“It is a unique race, as the main runway is actually closed to aircraft landing and taking off,” says Emmlynn Taylor, the group/sponsorship chair for this year’s Thomas Carmody Memorial JFK Rotary Club 5K Runway Run, held on 13 April at John F. Kennedy International Airport, which serves the New York City area. Planes are routed to a secondary runway during the event.

We are the superlative conspiracy
22/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
This afternoon, i received a parcel and it was a gift from my friend Scott. he sent me a pair of headphones which are very funky and cool. They sound pretty awesome too and i can now have a nice sound to listen to when editing movies. I said to him as a thank you that i would get a nice picture of me wearing them when i see Cherie Blair this sunday. Check out their website http://www.wesc.com/ - I wonder whether they could make a special range for us pilots - i will ask….

A year on….
16/04/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.

It has been 1 year since I started my pilot training. I could never have predicted how the year would be. It has been mostly full of joy but also mental strain. I have made new friends and lost old friends at the BDFA. My training started with the British Disabled Flying Association but sadly the tale ends with my relationship with them broken. In a recent letter to me, their current Chairman sent me a cheque returning my membership fee. Life is too short to worry about stuff like that. Read the rest of this entry »
