Freedom partners; Pooleys Flight Equipment
03/06/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.

I am very happy to announce that Sebastian Pooley of Pooleys Flight Equipment has become a supporter of our Smiling Wings tour. Pooleys have provided a goody bag for 100 children. This year we have planned to host that many children during the Smiling Wings tour. In the goody bag will be playing cards, a book, diaries to name a few items..Next year we have agreed to work together to host a Smiling Wings day at their annual fly in at Compton Abbas. A family run business and the oldest of its kind in the industry, Pooleys commenced its many aviation activities in 1957, becoming a Limited Company in 1961 and opening it’s present factory at Cranfield in 1966. Most of the products on this site are from this factory.

Britten-Norman
03/06/2008 by Mr Shoe Wingtips.
The first time i met William Hynett, Britten-Norman’s Group Chief Executive was over a beer at Aero Expo 2007, High Wycombe. BN is the only independent aircraft manufacturer left in the UK. They also assemble Cirrus in their factory on the Isle of Wight. I went there once in a PA28 out of Lasham. Andrew Mackay-Johnstone (one of the trustees of Aviation without Borders) is a very close friend of the man who runs Cirrus and promised to take me flying in a Cirrus SR22 - the same planes that BN assemble…I found this great picture of an Islander (also made by BN) on the web
