My soul is in the air

Before embarking on my PPL training at the start of 2007, i had very little expectation of myself from what the future would hold for me. To gather my thoughts, i switched my transponder off so that i would not appear on any radar and get some time out…flying has made me realise that i can excel at many things. It has also completely recharged my soul and Read the rest of this entry »

I am very glad to be flying with him. he is so calm and very skilled. he reminds me of Paul who i think is awesome, in fact i know that both Paul and Jack would get on like a house on fire.

PPL training Part 1

I started my PPL training on 14th April 2007. Since then, i have visited, Bembridge, Dunkeswell, Lasham, Blackbushe, Fairoaks, Redhill, Cranfield and Tatenhill. I have flown with 6 different instructors and i am not yet half way through the training. With the great help from the BDFA, i was able to start my pilot training. I have to say that i am loving it. I flew today from Tatenhill and it was just a joy to fly in JV again. It was like seeing an old friend. I have not flown in JV since 31st May 2007 where i managed to get 30 mins flying - mostly touch and go’s at Blackbushe. I had the pleasure today of flying with an extremely briliant pilot whose background is amazing.

I did slow flying, steep climbs, best glide endurance, stalling part 2, this was in the morning. Session 2 in the afternoon was doing circuits and touch and go’s. My instructor told me that i had done well and that he did not feel nervous whilst i got the grips of landing during a slight cross wind. It makes SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE to have highly experienced pilots teaching you. i do not know how to thank everyone enough. I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Paul, who has given me the best training that anyone could wish. i have missed flying with him.

I am going to do some flying at a new FTO based on the East Coast. This may the be location where part 2 of my PPL training is conmpleted. Watch this space. I shall do my write up when i get a chance to. May not be for a few days…I have some great friends and a wonderful family. Without them and their kind support, i could not be as happy as i am. Thanks to Rusty and the Bradshaw’s for letting me stay at their place whilst i attend my new flying school.

keep it in the green.

Wings Around Britain

The day has come! I will be flying with Polly Vacher this morning from Fairoaks, Woking to Redhill, Surrey. Polly aims to land at all 206 airfilelds in the Jeppesen VFR Manual to raise awareness for Flying Scholarship for the Disabled and promote her exciting book, Wings Around the World. Polly has achieved great things in General Aviation and i am looking forward to meeting her for the first time and be a small part of her latest challenge.

Without a dream you go nowhere

It is the start of Week 2 and today we managed to only fly at 800 ft as clowd level was that low..during the first take off we went into clowds keeping a sharp left eye on where the airfield was. it was decided that we could not do our planned lessons, but luckily for me, i did get to try out fying circuits, ex12 and 13 a. It was just a intro to take off and climmb to a downwind leg. Then conduct a powered approach. Read the rest of this entry »
